Abstract:
The impression of the included cerium (0, 5, 10) and cobalt (0, 2.75, 5.5) in the GHSV of 45000, reaction temperature of 600 and S/C=3 on the catalytic performance of Ni-Co/CeO2 were determined by using response surface method in propane steam reforming in order to optimize the propane conversion, hydrogen yield and catalyst deactivation. All of the catalysts’ supports were synthesized by precipitation method and catalysts were prepared by impregnation and so characterized by XRD, BET, SEM and TGA/DTA analyzes. The results indicated that increase of cobalt amount promote the catalyst reducibility and hydrogen yield. Improved catalysts with low content of Co introduce higher activity with good distribution of Ni particle on the support and high resistance to agglomeration of active phase during the reaction. But catalysts with extra amount of Co didn’t have efficient activity and deactivated. The component Ce also helped improving the distribution of Ni particles, coke resistance. The optimum amount of conditions were reached by desirability function approach as 7.19 % of Ce and 3.16 %.Conversion, hydrogen yield and activity loss that were achieved were 96 % ,64% and 5.4 % respectively which were in great agreement with the quantities predicted by the extended model.
