The construction industry (AEC( has been lagging behind other manufacturing industries over the past 40 years. The reason for this retardation in the development of productivity is the combination of joint needs in carrying out construction projects that have always been in the construction industry of a distinct nature. The technological renaissance of the construction industry, the Building Information Modeling (BIM), is presented as a way to address these issues and thus improve productivity in construction projects.
The BIM adoption process by stakeholders and construction project decision makers has been slow and many barriers have led to a widespread disapproval of this technology. Adapting with BIM creates the ability to change work processes that can make construction projects more simple and smarter. The implementation of BIM is not only a change in technology, but also in this process, there is a need for significant changes in work processes to improve productivity. BIM is a tool for improving processes to facilitate the ultimate goal of the project.
In this study, we have extensive research on BIM implementation problems in the world, as well as a questionnaire design for different companies in the field of construction, seeking to identify the problems and solutions in this industry and in particular in Iran.
According to the results of this thesis, among the most important barriers to admitting BIM, are the lack of a requirement from the policy makers of the construction industry, the traditional methods, the lack of clarity of the true value of BIM, and the lack of a definite and specific way.
