Abstract:
In recent years, DNA molecule have been attracted much attention as a promising building block for utilizing molecular electronic devices for unique features - self-assembly and self-recognition.
The electrical conductivity of the DNA chain depends on many variables including its structural characteristics and base pairs, how the molecule attaches to the electrodes, and the environmental conditions. Therefore a comprehensive study of the effective parameters in the molecular transport is very complicated.
In this research, we have used a tight binding ladder model introduced for study of electrical conductivity of DNA. This model shows good agreements with many experimental results. By choosing the tight binding ladder model, the Lopez Sancho method and the Landauer-Büttiker formalism, we investigate effect of the effective parameters on the conductance of the sequence of poly (G) -poly (C) and poly (A) -poly (T) DNA molecules, in terms of bias voltage between its two ends.
