Automatic Train Control (ATC) systems adjust train velocity, acceleration and stop at each station according to designed optimal velocity profiles individually and automatically. However, increasing the services and compressing the time tables on one side, as well as increasing the velocityon the other hand, along with the modernization of transportation systems and increased demand, creat a more responsibility and liability for train operator. In other words, based on optimal velocity profiles, ATC systems are designed for optimal control of train movement between two stations. Therefore, by considering the train velocity, as well as passengers safety, this thesis descirbes the optimal movement modes and presents methods of designing the optimal velocity profile, compensate the disturbance during the trip. Furthermore, in ths thesis we will introduce a method to redesign the velocity profile and recover the optimal speed and delay time in dealing with disturbances. By using the known information of Tehran-Karaj metro (single gradient) and Tehran-Mashhad railway (Multi gradient), desingning the optimal velocity profile for these lines are presented, and also simulation results in the Matlab software are shown.
