The growing demand for fuels on the one side and the limited fossil fuel resources on the other side have led the world to find renewable energy resources in order to cope with the growing demand in the fuel industry. Although, micro-algae is a highly efficient source of energy and significantly reduces the air pollution, because of its high implementation costs it doesn’t play a deciding role in the clean energy marketplace. Using a teo stage approach, the proposed minimization problem aims to commercialize micro-algae as a new source of energy. In the first stage, based on the Best-Worst Method (BWM),experts opinion, considering uncertainty in paired comparision, and using a Robust optimization model, the best cultivation technology is determined. In the second stage, a linear programming modelis presented which simultaneously consideres economic and environmentalobjectives. The proposed bi-objective model is solved using LP-metric method, and the results show a significant reduction in costs and pollution. Finally, sensitivity analysis on critical parameters are conducted to help dicision makers find the optimal trade-off between investment and benefits and examine model validation.
