Big companies that produce final product and use many suppliers for supplying raw materials and subcomponents, indeed need to manage supply chain effectively to achieve their ideal lead time, high quality and low cost.
One of the most important issues in this regard is selecting qualified suppliers to meet quality and cost targets.
Optimizing quality, cost, and delivery shouldn’t be calculated just with buyer’s parameters. But also the correct way of optimizing is calculating for whole supply chain via information sharing between buyer and suppliers.
Previous researches about risk and risk management have also been studied. Then, a basic model for the subject of supplier selection based on information sharing has been chosen. This model is a multi objected decision making model which selects the best suppliers and order quantities so that quality, delivery and cost targets are achieved simultaneously. In this model, certain demand and unlimited capacity of suppliers have been assumed.
According to the result of interview with experts of car industry, a new constraint has been proposed and added to the basic chosen model in order to improve it. Then, potential risks of selecting a supplier have been indentified and categorized based on findings of books, articles and interviews with car industry’s experts.
Giving priority and rank to the identified and categorized risks and adding a new object to the model in purpose of minimizing risks have been the next steps. Final expanded model has been formed with assumption of certain demand and unlimited capacity of suppliers again.
Finally, to validate the created model, it has been solved with a real case of selecting suppliers for supplying welding guns of IRANKHODRO’s body shop and results have been analyzed.
