Prison, as an important institution in the criminal justice system of a society, should protect the rights of citizens of the society by keeping criminals and implementing corrective and educational programs, as well as preventing prisoners from being deprived of their basic rights. Considering imprisonment as a punishment, cannot necessarily eliminate crimes from the prison or the streets, and it is certain that imprisoning criminals behind bars will not result in rehabilitation of prisoners and imprisonment alone is detrimental to detainees and education helps the prisoner to pursue a path other than committing crimes. Hence, in many cases, they have sought alternative solutions.
One of these solutions is to keep "Tazir" related detainees at the semi-open prisons. The semi-open prison with a moderate level of protection is an enclosed prison, where prisoners are deployed to their workplace with a sufficient number of guards without firearms and returned to the prison after the termination of work. For these prisoners, there are programs for reducing damages caused by imprisonment and preparing them for an active participation in society after being released. If the social worker is to work in rehabilitation programs, these workers, having the knowledge, principles, and skills required and considering the available facilities, should seek to understand the existing abilities and problems of the detainees and solve their problem and more importantly, they should help to decrease the social and psychological consequences of imprisonment and the backlash that a person with a criminal record faces from the community and even his family after returning.
In order to properly influence these rehabilitation programs, we require the necessary needs assessment so that we can predict the spatial planning on the basis of the educational needs of inmates. In this research, based on previous researches and their results, five types of formal and informal education, mental health education, life skills, and law education have been proposed. In each field, we should include and design the necessary spaces based on the required functionalities.
