Monorail as a part of the recent rail transportation systems is moving towards a fully automatic utilization. The automatic train stop (ATS) system is playing an important role for this purpose. The ATS system in specific situations and circumstances such as inadvertence of the train operator, earthquake, disconnected rail road and non-stopping train despite of the stop signal, will stop the train.
The application of fuzzy control in design and simulation of the monorail automatic train stop system have been investigated in this thesis. the fuzzy control is used for systems with nonlinear dynamic that cause smooth work of the breaks in automatic train stop (ATS). fuzzy control in the automatic train stop system is designed based on the speed of the train and the distance of it to the stop point. In this thesis, fuzzy control in the ATS system of the monorail is designed to increase the passenger comfort. For this purpose, passenger comfort besides the speed of the train and the distance of it to the stop point as the fuzzy controller inputs and the applied breaks force to the train system as the fuzzy controller output, is defined. Based on the monorail train's dynamic model, new fuzzy laws duo to the appropriate output are extracted by the extraction of the train's dynamic model. In the fuzzy controller designed the minimum inference engine with the use of mamdani minimum and singleton fuzzifier and center average difuzzifier are used.
In the following, ATS system that modified by consideration of the parameters of a rail system, operational considerations and the operational parameters such as changes of speed, distance accuracy to the stop point, the output breaks force and the applied jerk to the passengers that shows the passengers comfort is analyzed and the effect of the noises of the sensors and the output stir, mass change and the downward and upward of the line and speed profile changes is investigated on the system and the design accurate operation has been shown.
