Abstract:
Today, the science, knowledge and technology have been progressed at a fast pace. Humans now have found that information and awareness are needed in all the areas to succeed and enjoy a good life. The more the time elapses, the more the need is manifested, so that it would be exhibited as a requirement. In today's life, which is constantly developing around the needs of human beings, science and technology are considered an appropriate tool for facilitating the access to such needs. This has also affected the inexorable march of progress in cities as a major breakthrough in human history. Today, the cities attained the high levels of science and technology are leading and successful in global competitions and can provide the high levels of environmental qualities that are the constant preoccupation for those involved in urban design. Education can be considered a precondition and requirement for the promotion of science, knowledge and awareness in societies. Education is a vital source of development, and especially of urban development. In fact, successful development is possible through the correct education process. Education needs a context where information could be transferred from the instructor to the learner. Since humans are always educable regardless of time and place, then this context is not limited to the formal education spaces such as schools and universities. In addition, given the growing community's interest to spend more time in the city, the urban public spaces are considered a suitable context for education. The present research seeks to exploit this great potential in cities and to provide the guidance for the design of urban informative locations with the case study of Dowlatkhaneh Safavi in Qazvin, Iran. Due to the historical nature, this area has special conditions for education. Since this research is related to the quality, hence, the research approach may use the qualitative flows. Therefore, the research approach is qualitative and the most important research instrument and strategy is considered the written documents, and the main or general practice of studies is the documentary-library approach. It also encompasses the researchers' experience and confrontation with practical aspects. 9 dimensions which can be called urban design dimensions, i.e. function, perception, space, form, community, landscape, time, environment or nature and management, and 86 normative qualities of place are considered reliable in this study that learning is one of them. All the urban design features can reflect the informative quality. Therefore, by reviewing the area of Dowlatkhaneh Safavi in Qazvin in terms of nine aspects of urban design, the criteria were derived for the urban informative places and a guideline was developed for the design of urban informative places. Located in a very suitable area in the city center of Qazvin, this historical area has many potentials for realizing an urban informative place.
