Abstract:
The nano science and technology is growing very faster phase, which is indicating by huge number of publications and reviews in this past decade. nanostructured magnesium oxide (MgO) has attracted more attention recently due to it’s wide applications. In this work, nanostructured MgO were synthesized by a Combustion green synthesis using mulberry leaves, black tea and grape leaves as main fuels and Starch, Saccharose and gum tragacanth as added fuels for the first time. Four factors such as main fuel type, oxidizer ratio, added fuel ratio and added fuel type were evaluated under Taguchi L9 experimental design and analysis. According to Taguchi prediction, optimum sample was synthesized using mulberry leaves and starch as main and added fueles respectively. The structural and morphological properties of the products were characterized using, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Brunauer Emmet Teller (BET). According to XRD results, the crystal sizes of all samples calculated in the range of 8.6- 37.2 nm approximatly. Optimum nano-magnesium oxide powders has an average crystal size of 7 nm with 9/8 percent errors based on the prediction of statistical results. The results of the BET analysis showed that the specific surface area of optimum sample is about 75 m2/g .
