Since rail transportation has a significant impact on the economic growth of societies including Iran, attention to efficient and effective performance of it has become of paramount importance. In recent years, many technologies have been designed to enhance rail activities. On the one hand, the diffusion of these technologies in the rail transportation industry needs to be adopted by relevant stakeholders. One of the predictive methods of technology adoption is the agent based method which considers human factors beside technical factos. For this purpose, in this study, a questionnaire was designed and implemented for data collection and then the simulation of the adoption of several tracking technologies in the Railway Company of the Islamic Republic of Iran using agent-based method was done. In the next step, by using another questionnaire and thematic analysis method, the parameters and factors that influence the acceptance of IoT in railway are discussed. On the other hand, the validity of the research has been calculated using the mean square root error index and some other methods such as model testing in extreme conditions and sensitivity analysis in the agent based section and in the thematic analysis section using Holstein index. The results of this study show that individual and organizational acceptance are two completely separate categories. On the other hand, findings indicate that agents' neighbors, or in other words the agents to whom each agent sends their message, have a huge impact on accelerating the acceptance process and factors such as the cost of technology and how advanced it is, are important factors in making decision in adoption
