Abstract: Water and soil crisis in today’s society, is most mentioned one. The world population continues to grow, and demand for dwelling makes more soil erosion. Furthermore, dedicating more ground for construction instead of planting, accelerate this problem. Due to the dwelling increasing and its subsequences, which includes the lack of farmland, improvement of farming, in lands or retails, for growing demand of food seems necessary. Accordingly, city farming could be a right solution. In the other hand, dwellings in most refreshing places such as Lavasan, Tehran, are not mostly used. So it is important that some decisions are made to benefit them in most times of year.
The essential point of this project is representing a criterion for level of self-sufficient villa, considering its food production, management and optimizing water consumption. Surveying variable sources of climate and its consequences, as water shortage, lack of fertile soil, food shortage and future famine, shows that this problem should be solved in the building scale. Aquaponics system (raising aquatic animals - cultivating plants in water) is a great approach for villas in places such as Lavasan. Swage of fishing could be an organic fertilizer, and refined water by plants can be used in fishing process.
The project research methodology is a process, which at first case studies in water management and food production are studied, then by extraction of annual statistics, water capita consumption and food capita consumption, and the case study villa is achieved selfsufficiency by rational analysis and statistics datas.
