Today, the notion of the existence and running of developed cities without a proper public transport system is similar to the notion of skyscrapers without elevators, which is an idea far from the mind. But this perception is the real face of many metropolises in developing countries, which has caused many problems in these metropolises. Theorists believe that public transportation alone is not enough to change the pattern of development and alleviate traffic congestion, so their emphasis is on integrating public transport systems into the foundations of the city. One of the most evolved theory In the field of urban development plans, which can be a beginning to improve the current status of cities and an effective step towards sustainable development, is Transit Oriented Development (TOD). The purpose of TOD is to increase walking and reduce personal car use, which will reduce urban problems such as traffic, air pollution, noise pollution, and so on.
Due to the traffic and environmental problems in the Tehran metropolis, the purpose of this thesis is to evaluate and compare the Tehran metro stations based on the TOD approach to perhaps be a step towards improving the existing traffic and environmental problems. To be removed in this city. In this study 28 cases from Tehran metro stations were selected as sample and case study and evaluated based on TOD approach. For this purpose, referring to the theoretical literature of the research,15 criteria were considered as the criteria of TOD approach and the information of these 15 criteria were extracted and normalized for 28 selected stations, in the next step, a questionnaire was distributed based on the Best-Worst Method (BWM) between TOD experts and the weight of the research criteria was determined. Finally, according to the normalized data and the weight of the research criteria, a TOD score was obtained for each station, and the stations were ranked accordingly. At the last step, some suggestion are presented for developing subway stations based on the TOD approach. It should be noted that in this thesis, a model has been developed that provides a TOD score for each metro station (not just for selected research stations).
