Due to increasing tendency to the multimedia communications on the Internet, a large number of Applications need to process streaming media. In addition, due to progresses of information technology nowadays, users expect to be able to use these modern services by any devices from anywhere. Hence Media and communication servers which do the operations of media processing, are one of the key elements in these services. Therefore protocols, standards and components … related to these services result designing and implementation of VoIP systems by tools like Asterisk Server.
According to the importance of Asterisk performance evaluation which the main axis of this research is based on, in this research different tests and analyses for Asterisk performance evaluation, under different conditions with different parameters are implemented and studied. Parameters like different call rates, different number of simultaneous calls, different call durations, different CPU loads, needed Band width, and conditions like Asterisk as a SIP server and as a PBX Server with different RTP codecs including transcoding, estimating of Delay and Traffic intensity which consequently affect on communication quality which known as good, Normal and bad.
