In this study, the CuS, Cu2S, and CuS / RGO were synthesized by the solution combustion method for the first time and their electrochemical performance as supercapacitor electrode material was investigated. Thiourea and thiourea-glycine mixture were used as fuel to synthesize CuS / RGO, CuS, and Cu2S, respectively. Characterization of the synthesized powders was performed by XRD, DTA / TGA, FESEM, TEM, and BET analysis. The results showed the formation of single-phases CuS and Cu2S phase with different morphologies as a consequence of changing the mass ratio of thiourea and glycine. The electrochemical performance of synthesized powders was evaluated by cyclic voltammetric (CV), potential-galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD), electrochemical impedance spectrum (EIS) and stability tests. The specific capacitance of CuS, Cu2S, and CuS/RGO at 1Ag-1 was found to be around 517 Fg-1, 560, and 490 Fg-1, respectively. Sharp stability decrease was observed beyond 5000 cycles for CuS and after 10000 cycles for Cu2S.
