Nowadays, the homelessness problem has become an integral part of many metropolises. This phenomenon, which is the objective manifestation of urban public spaces, is often associated with problems such as addiction, alcohol abuse, mental illnesses, family breakdowns, physical illnesses and malnutrition. As the result of the mentioned phenomenon growing pace, which is caused by the urban space incidence and some of the side effects, especially in recent years, many of the organs and institutions associated with the city or active in the field has prompted social groups aim to respond and work on a solution for this problem. Meanwhile, the city has served as the bedrock of these patients, and many of its units, including alleys, squares, parks and even communities, have suffered from this incident. The purpose of this study is to identify the environmental and fundamental factors and physical components that predispose or aggravate homelessness and then provide a design guide to reduce this damage at the communities level. The point of view of the purpose of the present study is included in the applied research category. Also the research method is in the category of "descriptive-analytical" in which the description of concepts are systematic accompanied by content analysis. For having an integrated analysis, developed damage reduction strategies and policies, GIS and Excel software and SWOT technique are used in research information process. Stated in the southeastern side of the historical square of Shush, the Lipkat communities of Susa was selected and analyzed as a case study of homelessness. Among these factors, we can mention issues related to the proximity of land uses, urban public services distribution and infrastructure, as well as how to access them. Then, the position and role of factors such as drugs access easement, the lack of deterrents to consumption and home abandonment, from an institutional perspective and physical characteristics, as aggravating factors in the cycle of the phenomenon of sleeping pills in this communities were explained. After defining indicators that influence the trend of homelessness, the proposed goals, strategies and policies was proposed for breaking this cycle and reducing its harmfulness and finally a design guide for this area is being presented.
