Abstract:
Increasing urban population and their financial hardship in our societies has enhanced the importance of attention to the supply of housing units for a high percentage of population. Nowadays paying attention just to the financial issues and quantitative factors for the low-income sector of the society have lead to poor quality of housing and consequently has caused residents dissatisfaction effected by multiple factors and social and cultural damage. Therefore the purpose of this study is to find out the most important and effective criterion on the physical quality of residential environment of the lower class population and how to upgrade these criterions in their housing desing.
For this purpose, first with the help of documentary studies in related field, and by interview and use of content analysis method the residential environment quality indicators were presented in the proposed theoretical frame work. In order to prioritize suggested criteriors were classified in four categories of physical, operational, social and environmental using expert opinions based on DELFI’s technic and eventually eleven effective criterions on low-income population physical quality of residential environment were obtained. These data were analyzed by SPSS software package.In the next step by field studies the perception from the worn old houses of related site reviled the important elements that were of high importance; flexibility, presence of nature and green areas, separation of public areas from the private ones, natural light and ventilation, scales with spatial quality and attention to its outdoor and semi-open space. At the end, the design of the residential complex of low-income population would be carried out based on suggested solutions for those criteriors.
