خانه يكي از بنيادي ترين نيازهاي انسان مي باشدكه در طول تاريخ به نيازهاي مختلف مادي و رواني پاسخ مي داده است. ما همگي از وجود چيزي كه «خويشتن» مي ناميم آگاهيم. آدمي براي درك اين كهن الگو ـ خويشتن ـ كه بنيادي ترين آنهاست و كوشش براي تعيّن بخشيدن بدان به نمادهاي مادي چنگ مي اندازد كه به او نزديك و برايش با معنا و قابل تعريف است. انسان همواره خانه را يكي از اصلي ترين نمادهاي خويشتن مي دانسته و خانه علاوه بر رفع نيازهاي مادي، نيازهاي رواني و معنوي انسان را پاسخ مي داده است. به تعبير گاستون باشلار فيلسوف فرانسوي، درست همانگونه كه خانه و غيرخانه تقسيم‌بندي اصلي فضاي جغرافيايي است، خويشتن و ناخويشتن تقسيم بندي فضاي روح است. با اينكه خانه ابتدايي‌ترين و اصلي‌ترين گونه معماري به حساب مي آيد اما هر سرپناهي براي ما "خانه" نيست. "خانه" مفهومي پيچيده و چند بعدي است و عناصر فيريكي تشكيل دهنده آن بر چيزي فراتر از واقعيت عيني آن دلالت دارند. به بيان راپاپورت "خانه" كانون حقيقي زندگي است و در ساختن آن روح حقيقي انسان درگير مسأله است. حتي برخي معتقدند، "خانه" در قالب معماري مردمي، جهان بيني است كه به صورت ديگري بيان شده است. به تعبير كلر كوپر ماركوس در مقاله "خانه نمادي از خويشتن"، خانه هميشه خانه است، مكان اولين افكار و انديشه‌هاي آگاهانه، مكاني سرشار از امنيت و اصالت، خانه هرگز جعبه و يك چهار ديواري خنثي نيست؛ بلكه به تجربه در مي آيد و به نمادي از خود، خانواده، مادر و امنيت بدل مي شود. اما مسكن امروزي مانند انواع آپارتمان ،برج، مجموعه هاي مسكوني و... در ايجاد حس خويشتن ناتوان است. اين عدم نمادپردازي محيط(در همه سطوح زندگي) باعث از بين رفتن ارتباط فرد با ضمير ناخودآگاه و خويشتن متعالي اش مي شود. اين عدم ارتباط منجر به بيگانگي فرد با محيط زندگيش و در نهايت به ازخودبيگانگي ختم مي شود. حال مسأله اين است كه چگونه مي‌شود با ارائه الگويي شهودي ابتدا به درك ارتباط بنيادين خويشتن-خانه رسيد. و با تدوين يك روند طراحي خاص، ايجاد ارتباط بين خويشتن كاربر و خانه اش را ايجاد كرد.

Home is one of the most basic human needs that has responded to various material and psychological needs throughout history. We are all aware of the existence of what we call "self". To grasp this archetype - the self - which is the most fundamental of them, and to try to determine it, one clings to material symbols that are close to him and meaningful and definable to him. Man has always considered the house as one of the main symbols of himself and the house, in addition to meeting the material needs, has responded to the psychological and spiritual needs of man. According to the French philosopher Gaston Bashler, just as the home and the non-home are the main divisions of geographical space, the self and the unwilling are the divisions of the space of the soul. Although the house is the most primitive and basic type of architecture, not every shelter is a "home" for us. "House" is a complex and multidimensional concept, and the physical elements that make it up imply something beyond its objective reality. According to Rapaport, the "home" is the real center of life, and in building it the true soul of man is involved. Some even believe that the "house" in the form of folk architecture is a worldview that is expressed in a different way. According to Claire Cooper Marcus in her article "The House is a Symbol of the Self", the house is always the house, the place of the first conscious thoughts and ideas, a place full of security and originality, the house is never a box and a neutral four walls; Rather, it becomes experience and becomes a symbol of self, family, mother and security. But today's housing, such as apartments, towers, residential complexes, etc., is incapable of creating a sense of self. This lack of symbolism of the environment (at all levels of life) causes the person to lose contact with his subconscious and his transcendent self. This lack of communication leads to alienation from one's environment and ultimately to alienation. The question now is how to provide an intuitive model to first understand the fundamental self-home relationship. And by developing a special design process, he created a connection between the user Self and his home.
