In recent decade increasing surface friction has been one of the major concerns for road construction agencies to reduce road accidents and increase safety. When tire contact with the asphalt pavement, the increasing coefficient of surface friction can depend on two main factors: the use of suitable tire, Frictional properties of the pavement. The main pavement parameters related surface friction is The microscopic and macroscopic texture of surface. First factor increasing the skid resistance in low speeds and the latter at high speeds. The high friction surface technology, which includes a thin layer of polymer resin and high friction aggregates placing on pavement, is an effective solution to increase the surface friction of asphaltic and other kind of pavements. In this study, the British Pendulum Numbers of asphaltic samples coated with high friction layers was measured considering different variables. Polished stone values of high friction surface aggregates were also evaluated using the accelerated polishing machine samples as the frictional numbers before and after polishing to evaluate the polishing resistance. Also, based on an experimental relationship, the values of the coefficient of friction were calculated using sample's BPNs. Based on the frictional values, the surfaces covered by calcined bauxite had the best friction resistance results, with the skid numbers of 111, 107 and 105 for aggregation classes one to three respectively, and dolomite high friction aggregates had the weakest results, with the skid numbers of 83, 75 and 88 for aggregation classes one to three respectively. Considering various resins, the average of friction numbers of samples containing epoxy resin were 15 and 13 percent higher in comparison with the polyester resin samples in dry and wet conditions respectively. the skid results of polishing accelerator machine samples show, samples containing calcined bauxite had the best primary and after polishing frictional performance, and dolomites and granite samples had the weakest results, respectively.
