Railway concrete sleepers due to satisfactory structural performance in railway tracks with service life usually 50 years are designed, the reason for time-dependent behaviour is a different service life. Railway concrete sleepers are always aggressive environments such as impact load, abrasion, chemical attacks, etc. So many railway sleepers cannot compaction design requirements. Severe weather effects can create a series of problems for the durability of pre-stressed concrete sleepers, so it is essential to consider the durability of the pre-stressed concrete sleepers in accordance with the performance of its requirements for different climatic conditions.
In this study, first, comparing the pre-stressed concrete sleepers for Iran's rail tracks, according to the mechanical characteristics, such as the effect of path type, axial load, movement speed and distance between the sleepers were discussed. And the sleepers of the main countries of the industry in terms of flexural capacity in the critical points of concrete sleepers, which is an important component of the design of concrete sleepers, was evaluated and compared according to the relevant regulation (AREMA, AS 1085.14,UIC 713R).
In the following, using the Köppen climate, with is one of the most widely used climatic classification systems, has been divided into Iran's rail tracks, indicating that about 68% of Iran's rail tracks are located in arid and semi-arid regions.
Finally, with the proportion of each sleepers to their own regulations, comparing the different trade sleepers of the world for the Iranian climate is briefly given to the proposals presented by each region.
The results show that the concrete sleeper produced in Iran is responsive for all factors affecting the desert regions of Iran and adopt a suitable approach except for concrete covering on rebar, which is an important factor and very effective on the performance of concrete sleeper in these areas. Finally, the AREMA standard shows more appropriate requirements compared with other requirements of different regulations of the world regarding the resilience of pre-stressed concrete sleepers for different climatic conditions of Iran railway tracks offers.
