The expansion of energy consumption in industry on the one hand and the importance of discussing the optimization of energy consumption, due to the reduction of non-renewable energy reserves on the other hand, reminds the need for more reflection on industrial energy consumption.
Due to the forecast of rising energy prices and large amount of energy use in the construction industry, the need to operate zero-energy buildings and also to evaluate their life cycle has become more clear. Therefore, due to the necessity of this matter, the present project entitled "Zero Energy Buildings with Life Cycle Assessment Approach" examines the life cycle and energy consumption of the building under construction using a dormitory with an area of square meters that located at Iran University of Science and Technology.
In this research, first by studying the structure and plan of the building and comparing it with life cycle assessment standards, the building is studied from the perspective of optimal design, durability and flexibility, then by calculating energy consumption and carbon production, its environmental effects are expressed. According to the results of this study, it was found that compliance with existing standards in the design and construction sector is not desirable and therefore the need to provide practical solutions and improve energy consumption is very significant. In other words, in order for the building to comply with the existing standards, fundamental changes must be made in the design stage until the operation of the building.
