Analytical Models for the Evaluation of Mechanical Properties by Instrumented Indentation

According to distribution of composites materials and the importance interfaces have in determining mechanical properties, in this research has been tried by preparing samples of different materials and do hardness test by instrumented indentation machine, mechanical properties of interfaces in different conditions to be investigated. After evaluating and comparison the experimental results and computational results lead to obtain existing models are not extendable to interfaces between materials with 50% difference in Young’s modulus. Moreover, by increasing the interface gap Young’s modulus decreases. At the end some experiments have been done on interface between same material and shown that hardness and Young’s modulus of this interface is equal to bulk material.
