Housing is one of the basic human needs. Throughout history, man has inherently sought to provide his own housing and in cases of lack of access to the necessary facilities, has begun to build affordable housing for himself. But the issue of building affordable housing in a managed way dates back to the early 19th century. Different approaches were offered to build affordable housing, of which self-built housing was one of the most successful. Self-made housing has been in the spotlight since the 1970s. Due to the awareness of future residents of their needs and problems, their participation in construction can be better aligned with the culture of life and identity of residents. Also, dissatisfaction with this method of construction is minimized and even if there are problems, it is easier for residents to bear. The main purpose of this research is to present a plan for self-made housing with local and available materials so that residents can build suitable housing for themselves with minimal foreign assistance.
First, information on the research topic published in books, articles and documents was collected, studied, categorized and concluded by library research method. Then, the desired design site was observed in the field and interviewed with the residents. Then, a questionnaire was developed to assess the current situation, willingness to participate and ability to participate residents. The results of the questionnaire were categorized and analyzed by descriptive analysis. Finally, the research results were concluded by logical reasoning and categorized for use in design.
Available and indigenous materials and systems of Khoy city have been examined and usable items (durable, cheap, easy to implement, available) in the construction of self-made houses have been extracted and for cases where indigenous systems were not suitable, new systems with materials Available. Finally, the design is based on the needs and desires of residents and is applicable with the proposed materials and structures.
