Green chemistry aims at developing reactions that are cheap, clean and use less energy. For that, multicomponent reactions are drawing attention; yet, actual methods involve complicated work-ups, hazardous solvents, toxic catalysts, high catalyst loads, harsh reaction conditions and tedious catalyst preparation. Here, we have been developed green and simple methods for the efficiency preparation of imidazol and 2-amino-3-cyano-4H-chromenes derivatives with diverse substituents via one-pot pseudo four-component and three-component reactions in the presence of low modified chitosan as catalysts. This procedure is a clean, transition metal-free, and environmentally friendly approach that offers many advantages including short reaction time, high to quantitative yields, low cost, and straight forward work-up.
