معماري و بافتهاي فرسودۀ شهري سنتي ايران، نشان دهندۀ تاريخ فرهنگ و محيط زندگي در گذشته است و علاوه بر فرسودگي ظاهري و كالبدي داراي مشكلات ديگر مثل ضعف فرهنگي، اقتصادي، زيرساختها و خدمات شهري هستند. همچنين امروزه به دليل تغييرات سريع شهرها، نفوذ معماري غرب و تاثير آنها به معماري ايران به مرور زمان به فراموشي سپرده شده اند كه اين امر موجب زوال شهرها و ايجاد شهرهايي نوپا در اطراف بافتهاي سنتي ميگردند. مرمت بافت‌‌ تاريخي شهري را مي‌‌توان نوعي نگرش استادانه با رويكردهاي توسعۀ پايدار و حفاظت‌‌هاي ميراث ملي در اكثر كشورهاي درحال توسعه با زواياهاي موضوعي مرمتي بيان نمود همچنين در ايران اين موضوع يكي از علت‌‌ها، مشكلات و كمبودهاي قابل ‌‌توجه مواجه مي‌‌باشد. بافت‌‌هاي تاريخي در شهرهاي با اصالت تاريخي با قابليت ميراثي ارزشمند مي‌‌تواند نقش تعيين‌‌كنندۀ هويتي، هويت از گذشته را شامل گردد و آن را به يك سمبل جاودانه در جهان هستي تبديل كند. بافت‌‌هاي تاريخي در مقابل عوامل طبيعي و انساني دچار آسيب و نابودي قرار مي‌‌گيرند كه مي‌‌توان براي جلوگيري از شدت عوامل در اجرا و تدوين برنامه‌‌هاي مديريتي شهرهاي تاريخي طرح‌‌هاي مرمت شهري را در محدوده‌‌هاي بافت‌‌هاي تاريخي امري ضروري دانست چراكه با تبيين استراتژي تغيير سازگار با نياز امروزي و تعيين برنامۀ اصالت موضوعي مي‌‌توان علاوه‌‌ بر حفاظت بافتي در محدوده‌‌هاي شهري رويكرد موثر در جهت مقابله از بين‌‌رفت مورد اتخاذ قرار گرفت. در اين پژوهش به بررسي و ساماندهي گذر تاريخي باغ حسن خان در بافت تاريخي ثامن و احياء آن جهت حفظ ارزشهاي فرهنگي و تاريخي با ارائه راهكارها و اقدامات عملياتي پرداخته مي شود كه بتوان اين بافت ارزشمند را و به الگوي اصيل و كاربردي خود بازگرداند به منظور استفاده به عنوان محيط زندگي ويا مكاني تاريخي جهت گردشگري افراد بومي و غير بومي پرداخته شده است.
