Quality of life (QOL) is a concept that depends on the background and living conditions of the people of a specific country or region and is affected by the set of factors that form the foundation of the dynamics of life in an urban society. Therefore, it can be said that the QOL can be different from city to city and from person to person. On the other hand, cities also have several classifications, one of the most important of which is the classification based on city size, based on this classification, cities are divided into three categories, large, medium, and small based on the population factor.Today, with the process of globalization and the dominance of modernism in urban planning and the significant increase in population, the quality of urban life in many countries of the world, especially Iran, has faced a decline. Considering the concept of QOL to be the same in all cities and then using the same indicators and factors in programs and studies in the field of QOL has caused urban planners to not have a precise understanding of the factors affecting the feeling of QOL, and studies in this field cannot aim as they should Improving the QOL in the cities.
Therefore, the main goal of this research is to explain and identify indicators and factors affecting the QOL according to the size of the city. Following this, the cities of Tehran, Qazvin and Zia Abad, which have faced the phenomenon of QOL degradation in recent years, were selected as research samples. The research method is descriptive-explanatory and its approach is practical. In order to achieve the goal of the research, library, field and questionnaire techniques were used to extract and compile the basics, indicators and data required for the research. Finally, to check the status of the QOL in the study samples and identify and explain the indicators. Effective on the QOL according to the size of the city, the One sample (T) test and stepwise regression method were used.
The findings show that the QOL in the cities of Tehran, Qazvin and Ziaabad is not in a favorable state and the citizens are not satisfied with most of the QOL indicators. On the other hand, according to the investigations carried out in previous studies and the analyzes carried out, it is not correct to equate the indicators that affect the QOL in all cities, and some concepts such as the characteristics of the city, the size of the city in the compilation and selection of the effective indicators are effective on the QOL. Accordingly, after analyzing the findings in the study samples, 25 indicators in small cities, 34 indicators in medium cities and 18 indicators in large cities were identified and compiled as indicators effective on the QOL. became Finally, the results of the research indicate that in small cities, in the first priority, the indicators of social, cultural and administrative fields due to the strong social solidarity among people and the high importance of social and cultural concepts, and in the second priority, the issue of transportation and Congestion, housing costs and environmental pollution are the most important and influential in explaining the QOL.
