Abstract Pumps are the beating heart of the industry and a large part of the energy consumption is related to pumps. Pumps are used in various industries, such as oil and petrochemical, desalination industry, in agriculture, to transfer water and other fluids with high viscosity and low viscosity. Among the most important types of pumps, we can mention the centrifugal pump, this category of pumps is considered as the most used type of pump. In this treatise, while introducing types of pumps, centrifugal pumps are specially introduced and its different parts are examined. Also, the design principles of the helical part of the pump are stated. In the following, the design of the helical part of a centrifugal pump is discussed and its various common forms are designed as well as some suggested models. Also, all the parts of this centrifugal pump are modeled and simulated, and finally, all the designed spiral parts are analyzed and eva‎luated. By examining the results, it is clear that the theory of constant angular momentum is better than the theory of constant speed for the design of the spiral pump. It is more suitable and the suitable cross-section for the helical design of the used pump is trapezoidal.
