در مراحل اوليه طراحي، معماران و مهندسان با چالشهاي مختلفي مواجه هستند. معماران در تالشند تا با "يافتن يك شكل" در بين بيشماري شكلهاي ممكن، فضا را كنترل كنند، در حالي كه مهندسان سعي ميكنند با "يافتن شكل"، يك راهحل بهينه براي آن شكل خاص را كنترل نمايند. ابزارهاي پارامتريك امكان طراحي فرم و هندسه متنوع را به معماران ميدهد ، اما نيازمند تحليلهاي عددي در مراحل ديگر هستند. اين فرايند آزمون و خطا نه تنها زمانبر است، بلكه در فضاي خارج از كنترل طراح اكتشاف را محدود به راهحلهاي معمول و شناخته شده ميكند. به همين دليل، نياز به روشهاي طراحي جديدي وجود دارد كه شكل و عملكرد را تركيب كنند. در اين پاياننامه، يك روش طراحي سازه مبتني بر گرامر شكلي و گرافيك استاتيك پيشنهاد ميشود. با تركيب گرامر شكلي با گرافيك استاتيك، روشهاي توليدي )معماري( و تحليلي )مهندسي( به صورت همزمان و يكپارچه در فرآيند طراحي تركيب ميشوند. اين روش قابليت توليد ساختارهاي منحصر به فرد و همچنين اكتشاف فضاهاي طراحي مختلف را فراهم مي كند. به جاي استفاده از متغيرهاي متعدد در طراحي پارامتريك، اين رويكرد قوانيني را براي توليد و تغيير شكل مشخص مي كند. از گرامر شكلي براي اعمال قوانين مختلف به منظور توليد طرحهاي خارج از انتظار طراح استفاده ميشود. همچنين، به دليل استفاده از گرافيك استاتيك براي درج منطق و رفتار سازه، ساختارهاي حاصل هميشه در تعادل بوده و نيازي به تحليل عددي بيشتر ندارند. كارآيي اين روش جديد در كنترل همزمان شكل و نيرو در مراحل اوليه طراحي اين امكان را ميدهد كه طراح بتواند به سرعت ساختارهاي منحصر به فرد و عملي توليد كند كه خارج از فضاي راهحل مورد انتظار قرار ميگيرند، بدون جهتگيري در فضاهاي مختلف طراحي كاوش كند و تركيب قوانين و هدفهاي طراحي را براي پاسخ منحصر به فرد مسئله سفارشيسازي كند. ساختار طراحي ارائه شده در اين پاياننامه نشان دهنده پتانسيل جديد و قدرتمند تركيب گرافيك استاتيك با گرامرهاي شكلي است و امكان طراحي غنيتر با كنترل بيشتر بر رفتار سازهاي را به طراح ميدهد.

Grammatical Form-Finding of Structures Using Graphic Statics

In the initial stages of design, architects and engineers face various challenges. Architects strive to control space by "finding a form" among countless possible shapes, while engineers attempt to control a specific form by "finding a solution" that optimally addresses that particular shape. Parametric tools provide architects with the ability to design diverse forms and geometries, but they require numerical analysis in later stages. This trial-and-error process is not only time-consuming but also limits the designer to conventional and well-known solutions, restricting exploration beyond their control. For this reason, there is a need for innovative design methods that combine form and function. In this thesis, a structural design method based on shape grammar and statics graphics is proposed. By combining shape grammar with statics graphics, generative (architectural) and analytical (engineering) methods are integrated concurrently in the design process. This approach enables the creation of unique structures and the exploration of various design spaces. Instead of using multiple variables in parametric design, this approach defines rules for generating and altering specific shapes. Shape grammar is utilized to apply different rules for generating unexpected designs. Moreover, by using static graphics to incorporate logic and structural behavior, the resulting structures are always in equilibrium and require minimal additional numerical analysis. The efficiency of this new method in simultaneously controlling form and forces in the early stages of design allows designers to rapidly create unique and practical structures that diverge from the expected solution space. It enables designers to explore different design spaces and customize the combination of design rules and objectives to address specific design challenges. The design structure presented in this thesis demonstrates the new and powerful potential of combining static graphics with shape grammars, providing designers with the ability to create richer designs with greater control over structural behavior.
