The volume of high-grade gold reserves and recoverable gold is gradually decreasing. Therefore, the desire to extract and process low-grade, complex and resistant resources is increasing. Copper is often a valuable by-product of these stones. Ore containing gold and copper is known as an important source of copper and gold elements, therefore, the study and investigation of ores containing gold and copper that have a relatively low grade is necessary, which will ease the problems of this industry. In this thesis, the extraction of two elements, gold and copper, from the low-grade ore of Hird mine, located in South Khorasan province, has been evaluated. Research stages include preliminary preparation, identification (mineralogy) and leaching tests. The mineralogical studies of the ore containing gold and copper show that the received ore contains quartz, lime, pyrite, magnetite, calcite, brunite and alumina minerals, the initial amount of copper element is 280 ppm and the amount of gold is 234 ppb. In order to extract gold and copper elements, leaching experiments were designed and carried out using monosodium glutamate leaching agent. The materials and devices used in the analysis of gold and copper elements were fully explained and the results of gold and copper extraction from the studied ore were presented along with the interpretation of the results. The percentage of copper extraction was 50.57% under optimal conditions with a concentration of 1 M monosodium glutamate, a pH of 10 and a temperature of 50 degrees Celsius. Also, the highest percentage of gold extraction (80.62%) was obtained under the conditions where the concentration of monosodium glutamate was 2 M, the pH was 11 and the temperature was 60 °C.
