Visual arts, depend on the understanding of the viewer. and the artist must be able to communicate with the audience and the viewer of his works and convey his meaning in a suitable environment. One of the current problems is that visual arts have not found their place in society as it should. The lack of space to display works of art, for people to get to know each other, along with the lack of space for specialized criticism of works, is one of the main problems of the activists of this branch of art. Also, the problem that can be seen in many art center designs is that these spaces have a sense of belonging to The place, which is one of the important indicators of improving the quality of human spaces, does not create in the individual. This level sense is higher than the sense of place and it causes the continuity of a person's presence in a place and creates an individual identity.
In this research, all the components and sub-components that affect the sense of belonging to the place (physical, social, cultural, etc.) have been studied in this particular geography (Vanak neighborhood) and according to the indicators extracted, an art center should be designed in harmony with the sense of belonging to the place that originates from the psychology of the environment.
In the first chapter, the generalities of the research have been discussed and the importance, necessity and goals of this research have been explained. The second chapter is dedicated to literature review. In this chapter, the related concepts of visual art and the sense of belonging to a place are examined. In the third chapter, an attempt is made to extract the design points that can be used in the design of the visual arts center with the approach of increasing the sense of belonging to the place by examining the case studies with the same topic. Information related to foreign cases have been collected by library method and to collect information related to local cases, in addition to library sources, field method has also been used. After the brief introduction of each project, the key points of the design are stated in each case. In the fourth chapter, the research method and its findings are discussed. By analyzing the articles related to the topic, the effective factors in the sense of belonging to the place are extracted and categorized. In chapter five, proposed plans for visual arts centers are introduced with the approach of increasing the sense of belonging to the place. After the general introduction of artistic cultural centers and the design criteria of these centers, the spaces in the plan and the relationship between them and the physical plan of the micro-spaces are introduced. The next section will cover the analysis of the proposed site. Finally, the design process and the application of the criteria in the project is introduced.
