Investigating Citizensʹ Satisfaction with the Creation of Special Roads for Motorcycles an‎d their Effects on the Quality of Urban Life

This study intended to investigate the effect of constructing special motorcycle lanes on the quality of urban life an‎d citizen satisfaction within the Tehran Traffic Control Plan Zone. In this regard, three groups were studied; including motorcyclists an‎d passengers, residents, pedestrians an‎d bazaaris, an‎d urban experts an‎d specialists. The present study used descriptive an‎d inferential methods to analyze data an‎d used tools such as questionnaires an‎d statistical analyses in SPSS software. The results illustrate that special motorcycle lanes can reduce traffic, increase safety, an‎d reduce travel time, but there are challenges in some important indicators such as safety an‎d driving culture. The findings also indicate that constructing suitable infrastructure an‎d to culturalize the proper use of special passageways is of great importance. The construction of special motorcycle lanes directly leads to increased citizen satisfaction an‎d improved quality of urban life, because it enhances the urban transportation experience by reducing traffic, increasing safety, an‎d reducing travel time. Derived from the SERVQUAL model, by increasing the gaps an‎d lags specified in the modelʹs indicators, it is possible to strengthen collective morale an‎d create public satisfaction. Finally, suggestions are provided to improve the condition of the roads, enhance the safety of motorcyclists an‎d other users, an‎d increase satisfaction.
