Sassanian Art an‎d Architecture Cultural Campus

In the contemporary era, the rapid pace of cultural an‎d social transformations has made the preservation an‎d representation of Iranian–Islamic identity one of the fundamental concerns of urban development, particularly in the metropolis of Tehran. Utilizing cultural an‎d historical capacities in the process of urban design can play an effective role in enhancing the quality of urban spaces an‎d strengthening collective identity. In this context, the architecture an‎d art of the Sassanian period—recognized as one of the richest cultural manifestations of ancient Iran—possess unique aesthetic, conceptual, an‎d structural values that can serve as an inspiring source for the design of contemporary cultural spaces. This study aims to analyze the cultural an‎d artistic role of Sassanian architecture in urban development an‎d to propose a conceptual model for designing the “Sassanian Art an‎d Architecture Cultural Campus” in Tehran. The research is applied in nature an‎d employs a descriptive–analytical an‎d historical–interpretive approach. Data were collected through library research an‎d examined using qualitative content analysis. The findings indicate that incorporating the cultural an‎d aesthetic components of Sassanian architecture can, while preserving the connection between the past an‎d the present, lead to the creation of spaces endowed with meaning, identity, an‎d cultural vitality. Designing a cultural campus with such an approach represents a step toward the revitalization of cultural heritage, the improvement of urban environmental quality, an‎d the strengthening of citizens’ sense of social belonging.
