Abstract
In this research, flow over the airfoil comprising a fan has been studied by
experiment and CFD technique. Also, potential flow over the airfoil has been solved by
some simplifying assumptions. Results of numerical simulation are in good agreement
with the experimental data. For experimental study, a model wing was made and
examined in wind tunnel. Aerodynamic coefficients were measured in various free stream
conditions such as free stream velocity and angle of attack. Fan rotational speed was the
other desired variable. Then, a rectangular flap was added to the wing at the trailing edge
and experiments were done again at various flap angles. Aerodynamic coefficients of the
airfoil are highly depended on the fan rotational speed. Lift and pitching moment
coefficients increase and drag coefficient decreases by fan speed. Flap angle is very
effectual on the airfoil performance and by increasing this parameter all the aerodynamic
coefficient increase considerably.
