Abstract:
Ad hoc networks are an important subset of wireless networks without any
established infrastructure, and can be used in wars, conferences, search and
rescue. One of the problems in these networks is to provide adequate bandwidth
for multimedia traffics. According to growing requirements of multimedia
application it seems it is necessary to provide Quality of service (QoS) for
multicast protocols. Due to impact of providing quality of service in multimedia
application and also limitations of ad hoc networks it is necessary to add the
capability of supporting quality of service to multicast algorithms, considering
that it is much more difficult than unicast algorithms. In this project a new
method for estimating bandwidth in multicast protocols (by generalizing
calculating rules of available and consumed bandwidth in unicast algorithms to
multicast algorithms) is presented.
Also we offer an algorithm for providing desirable bandwidth in one of mesh
based multicast protocols. Results of simulation over 50 mobile nodes show that
the new method can provide desirable bandwidth in multicast groups, more data
delivery ratio and less control overhead comparing to primary protocols.
